Infiorata Noto 2024

The Infiorata of Noto is a captivating and colorful event that takes place annually in the Sicilian town of Noto. Rooted in local culture, this tradition draws visitors from around the world. The Infiorata is a celebration held in May, usually during the third weekend of the month.

During the Infiorata, the main streets of Noto are transformed into true floral works of art. Skillful local artists patiently work to create intricate floral compositions and colorful carpets directly on the pavement, forming ephemeral paintings of great beauty. The designs range from religious motifs to depictions of everyday scenes, creating a unique and vibrant atmosphere.

This floral spectacle is made possible by the active participation of the local community, which contributes flowers and petals to create the various artworks. The Infiorata is often associated with religious celebrations related to Corpus Christi, and the precision and dedication of local artists make the event an extraordinary experience, capturing the attention and admiration of those who participate.

Noto Antica

Noto Antica, also known as Netum, is the ancient settlement of Noto that was destroyed following the earthquake of January 11, 1693. A municipium under Roman rule, a strategic center from the Arab domination onward, and honored with the title of 'Civitas Ingeniosa' by Ferdinand the Catholic, it was the homeland of many prominent figures between the 14th and 16th centuries. Additionally, it stood as one of the primary cultural, military, and economic centers in southeastern Sicily. Surrounded by imposing walls (many of which still stand) and deep valleys of Mount Alveria, it was never taken by force
